Sewell’s colour survey draws on ten years of considered observation of our fire prone suburban/rural interface, and acute inner-urban studies. There are four distinct series from which this work was drawn- the ‘Black Christmas’ bushfires of 2000/2001, ‘Aftermath’ Victoria’s Black Saturday bushfires 2009, early colour studies 2000-2005 and his highly refined tri-colour series ‘Hillsdale’.
